Fossa’s cofounders, Ms. Gloria Kolb and Dr. Michael
Mitchell, saw unmet needs in the medical marketplace. After
exploring several concepts, the founders decided to pursue
the removal of kidney stones as the first application of their
patented technology.
Fossa Medical was founded in 2001 to commercialize these ideas.
Through a network of diverse individuals, the company obtained
financing to complete designs, file patents, complete animal
trials/clinical studies and obtain FDA clearance for the Stone
Sweeper® device. Fossa has since commercialized a few
products in the urology field and continue to introduce innovative
products.
